New at Frisco Mercantile...Deminars!

We are pleased to announce that Brooklyn of Brookielynn's Bungalow will give live furniture painting demonstrations in suite #1506 using Oh Lola! Vintage 

Paints (The Artisan Chalk). Her first deminar was held February 25th, where she demonstrated techniques using Oh Lola! Vintage Paint in Baroque Red. This talented artisan has a background in teaching and now specializes in furniture renovation, which makes these deminars both insightful and fun. 

Paint Colors/Techniques for the next 4 weeks to be held on Thursdays from 10-2pm (March 6-March 27):

1. Marseille and how to make a flawless chevron pattern (using the rocking chair) 

2. Antique Egg Blue w/Antiqued finish (making the roof line of her suite) 

3. Baroque Red w/crackle glaze and antiqued finish

4. St. James w/Gold Guilding Wax

Our Antique Wax for Antiques and Fine Furniture provides an excellent protection to any wood surface and painted furniture. Our ingredients are 100% Natural Beeswax and Carnauba Wax, No harmful chemicals! Especially and exclusively made for Oh Lola! Vintage Paint Co. So easy to use, just apply a thin layer with a soft cloth or brush. After 5-10 minutes, wipe off any excess, treat as often is necessary. It's The Perfect Wax for our Chalk Style Paint!

 Our waxes do not have any solvents, and as such, are not used for staining. It is used to enhance and bring out details in the wood (i.e. scroll work, crevices, etc.). It will give your furniture a subtle antiquing look. The wax will fill in any crevices and protect your piece from moisture and dust.
Having no solvents, it will not dry out. It will leave a lovely soft matte luster. Just wipe off any excess with a soft clean cloth.
Our waxes are recommended for the care and maintenance of all antiques and fine furniture, without the typical anxieties and concerns associated with other furniture waxes. Is safe for anyone to use, on any surface, and safe for the environment. They contain zero VOC's, no harmful solvents, toxins, silicone, mineral spirits, turpentine or petroleum.

We mixed, filled and labeled our very first batch of top quality chalk-style paint! It's stocked and ready for sale at Frisco Mercantile. For many of you who doesn't know :
What is a chalk-style paint? It's a specialty decorative paint, designated and created for the artisan in you.You can use our special formula on furniture and walls, use one color or layer colors, it's a water based with a very low odor, has a very low volatile organic compounds (VOC's) so it's Eco-friendly, our special formula has a chalky matte finish, and has an amazing coverage with ONE coat. No priming or sanding needed. This chalk style paint will stick to most surfaces. It's so easy to use, you can revitalize, re-purpose, and refinish furniture like a Pro!!
It's easy to distress for a shabby look, to seal our paint we recommend a furniture wax. But it can be sealed with polycrylic, polyurethane, or lacquer. If you want the paint thicker, leave the can open until desired consistency. Or add a little water to use as a wash. We recommend using a bristle brush, but depending on the technique you can use sponge brush, roller or paint sprayer. Our paint is Made in U.S.A.

I couldn't be more proud of our own line of Decorative Furniture Paints. Here is a sneak peak of what our paint can offer you. Chalky matte finish, Beautiful rich colors, Eco-fiendly, Low VOC's and wonderfully covers with one coat of paint.

No sanding, no prep needed, just dust and start painting, this is "French Blue" one coat will do the job, if you desired a richer color can do a wash (mixing water with paint to thinner down) this particular table was done with only ONE coat.

This is how it looks when dried. I've distressed just a bit, I like the shabby look of worn furniture, you can do that with a sanding block.

Then is time to wax your piece. I used clear wax and then dark wax to create an antique patina on legs and table border.

This is the finished piece. I add a little gilt wax to add an accent gleam.
